Welcome to Danapur division of E.C. Railway- Shri  Gyan Prakash, IRTS joined as new Divisional Railway Manager on 30 March 2009.

Danapur  Division is an important passenger  oriented  division of  East Central  Railway. Its jurisdiction extends over a length of 752 route kms., covering two states viz., Bihar and U.P.
 
 

12 DISTRICTS of Bihar and U.P.are served by Danapur Division; Buxar, Bhojpur, Patna, Lakhisarai, Jamui, Nawadah, Sheikhpura, Jehanabad, Barh, Nalanda and Ghazipur, Chandauli.

NUMBER OF STATIONS in division is 205,out of which   1 is A1 class,  6 are A class,  11 are B class,  10 are D class and  60 are E class ;based on commercial earning.

TOTAL NO. TRAINS  handled by  division is 306; 194 Mail/Express and 112 Passenger services(DMU-14, DEMU-22, MEMU-38, Conventional-38).

 

HISTORICAL & RELIGIOUS PLACES under the jurisdiction of Danapur Division are.. Patna, an ancient city, historically known as Patliputra and Azimabad, famous for  its historic places such as Golghar, Museum, oriental Library, Shaheed-Smarak etc.The historical Takht Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara, the birth place of Guru Govind Singh ji is located at Patna City. Archaeological sites and Hot water spring of Rajgir;The place where lord Mahavir was cremated at Pawapuri; Remnants of the Capital Cities of mighty Magadh Empire... Patliputra and Rajgrih; Monuments of ancient seats of learning… Nalanda University; Water Falls of Kakolat; Religious centers of Gaya and Rajgir; Prominent Islamic spots of Biharsharif,Phulwari Sharif and Maner Sharif; Pre-historic Cave-Paintings and Rock-shelters of Kaimur;3rd. Century BC caves of Barabar; Monuments of Ara, Buxar and Chausa. and many more attractions are also in the jurisdiction of Danapur Division.

 

In Danapur  Division , Full Rake LOADING AND UNLOADING FACILITIES are at Buxar, Ara, Danapur, Phulwarisharif (FCI), Digha Ghat (FCI), Biharsharif, Mokama (FCI), Warisaliganj, Jamui and Kiul and Half Rake at Patna Sahib (20 wagons), Lakhisarai (13 wagons) and Jehanabad (20 wagons).


21 stations are MODEL STATIONS ; Patna Jn., Ara, Buxar, Patna Sahib, Danapur, Mokama, Luckeesarai, Kiul, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Rajgir, Bakhtiyarpur, Biharsharif, Jamui, Jhajha, Jehanabad, Makhdumpur Gaya, Barh, Phulwarisharif, Nalanda, Nawadah and Sheikhpura.and 12 are MODERN STATIONS; Ara, Buxar, Patna Jn., Rajendra Nagar, Mokama. Fatuha, Bakhtiyarpur Jamui, Kiul, Luckeesarai, Danapur and Barh.


 09 MAIN PARCEL LOADING STATIONS are Jhajha, Kiul, Lakhisarai, Mokama, Bakhtiyarpur, Fatuha, Patna Sahib, Ara and Buxar.

A 16000 plus strong work-force constitute the back-bone of Danapur Division ,   ensuring safety, security & punctuality in running round-the-clock train services - both passenger and freight.
